"2008 - A YEAR

'TWO'

THE HIGHLIGHT OF THIS YEAR...

...was well worth waiting for!!

Shannon and Mike became engaged!

Mike popped the question and surprised Shannon with a ring "tree topper". No date has yet been set, but we can barely wait to welcome Mike and his family into ours.

Brendan and Élodie have been growing like weeds.

Brendan has mastered the English language and quite a few French words too. He enjoys attending two different preschools, one all by himself and another he shares with his sister.

Élodie loves her own preschool and playing with her friends, but she totally adores her big brother and does very well while trying to keep up with him.

Ever since she has been able to get around, she just wants to play with her "Brudder". Yes, she is starting to talk too.

Brendan is usually patient and loving with his little sis, and likes to teach her about the world as he knows it. He is teaching her to count. He can make it to 36 and Élodie says, "fo, fi,ses...".

Brendan has a lot of favorite songs and loves to sing. Élodie's doing very well with "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" too. Both are great at carrying tunes. We can see stardom in their futures.

But Élodie's favorite pasttime is eating!

Jim and his brother, Johnny, and John's niece, Sherry, all took advantage of the tickets our nephew, John, got for a game in Dallas this summer. They got the VIP treatment and Jim's only disappointment was that the Cowboys lost! But Sherry's team, the Redskins, were the winners.

In June, just 4 weeks after some knee surgery, I was able to rejoin my team, the Silver Belles, to compete for a position at the National Senior Olympics, to be held at Stanford University next summer.

We did qualify when we won 2nd place in our age bracket for California.

A few of us traveled to Utah for a week in October, to compete in at the Huntsman World Senior Games. We didn't win but we sure had a wonderful time.

REMEMBER"

"

"There was a litle girl..."

Brendan sneaks a kiss from his sis whenever he can. They are so cute together.

Jim's favorite team is the
Dallas Cowboys. His world stops when the games begin.

The "Silver Belles"

While at the opening ceremonies at the Huntsman Games, I got serenaded by one of "The Lettermen". They sing as beautifully as ever - and are very nice gentlemen.

The women of "Viva Vegas"!

I'll close with a couple more shots of my favorite subjects at Campland in San Diego this summer. We started camping there in 1974 and, based on the way Brendan and Élodie loved it, I guess we will be returning for years to come.

Of course, I could go on forever but all things must end sometime.
